Something to Contemplate

There is no alternative for you but to accept the
world as unreal if you are seeking the truth and
the truth alone. Unless you give up the idea that
the world is real your mind will always be after it.
If you take the appearance to be real you will
never know the real itself, although it is the real
alone that exists.

Mercury, Mars, Sun

From today 5/26 until 6/2 Mercury is going to be conjunct Mars and then conjunct the Sun. Mercury rules the neutral mind as well as communication and his basic nature is light and airy – no match for Sun and Mars and the result can be frayed tempers and anger based decisions.  It is best to work on non-reaction to others – Saturn which is aspecting all of the planets involved can actually be helpful at this time because he rules restraint – take care of stress levels and do whatever is healthy to not add fuel to the fire at this time.

“My understanding of the way a child grows is that you create the garden, you don’t grow the flower. You can merely fertilize the earth and keep it soft and moist, and then the flower grows as best it can. It’s an interesting one, because people get guilty that they’re not doing enough about their children, and they tend to get caught in this sort of predicament.

You don’t change your wife or your child. You just keep working on yourself until you are such a clean mirror reflection, such a supportive rock of love for all those beings that everybody is free to give up their stuff when they want to give it up – your wife, her anxiety; your child, that habit. You keep creating a space in which people can grow when they’re ready to grow.”

It is grace that we have access to the wisdom of Ram Dass.

“There are no ‘them’ in the universe, there is only ‘us’. And we as a collective must purify ourselves. Each individual must hear her or his dharma, that is the way in which their manifestation must come forth in order to relieve suffering in whatever form it takes. Until you are enlightened it must be an exercise in working on your own consciousness.”

Ram Dass

“In your daily life, how do you become an instrument of social change? You become in yourself the statement of love, the statement of choiceless awareness, you become the moment so that everyone that comes near you is liberated by your presence if they are ready. You do nothing to anybody. You live your life. Which life do you live? Whatever your dharma demands. If your work is to protest the injustice of races, you protest. If your work is to raise a family, you raise a family. If your work is to be a good lawyer, you’re a good lawyer. If your work is to be a shoemaker, you’re a shoemaker. If your work is to meditate in a cave, you meditate in a cave. No blame, no reward. You do your dharma. Each act you do you do as a vehicle for becoming this meditative, loving, present moment. This statement of love. the statement of choiceless awareness. You become the moment.”

Heads Up

Monday, May 4th at 8:02 p.m., eastern time, the Moon enters Scorpio where it will be directly opposed by Mars – by 8:42 p.m., eastern time the Ascendant will join the party in Scorpio along with the long-term guest of Saturn.  These placements are not going to promote harmony and we may have to endure a Monday evening filled with angst and short tempers.  By Tuesday, May 5th the intensity will be lessened but still on the darker side.  It is a good time to have anti-stress tools ready and to remember that sometimes emotions can be one of most troublesome illusions of all.  .
